Matt

Rob,

I just wanted to express, once again, our gratitude and appreciation for what your organization has just done for us. For people to go out of their way to help us through a difficult time financially is a bright light that shines during a very dark time of our lives. I have spent countless hours combing over bills, documents, emails and legal documents …trying to make sense of how deep this financial hole really is. As I mentioned earlier in your office, both my wife and I have been humbled by the realization that we took so much for granted and were irresponsible on many levels prior to losing our jobs. If we genuinely received only what we deserved, I don’t think any person or organization could help us with food, rent and utility bills. That’s what makes this gift so unsettling for me personally …because I feel we could have made better, less selfish decisions with our money in the months and years leading up to our recent downfall.

So, that look of exhaustion and despair on my face was also mixed with a lot of shame. I feel with the education and experience my wife and I have attained over the years, there is no excuse for people like us to be where we are today. I don’t say that out of pride …I say it out of humility. We need to do much better, and we must take nothing for granted in life.

With that said, it says a lot about you and your organization when you choose to look past a person’s defects and simply accept them for who they are, regardless of their faults reinforced by a trail of bad decisions that led them to walk through your doors in the first place. When I first met you, my tail we truly between my legs. I was defeated. It is very possible that, by the end of August, we will have recovered financially due to some early lucky breaks I am getting in my new job. Nothing is certain, but things are looking up. But when I finally do start getting my unemployment and eventually start earning good commissions from my new employer, our perspective on money and
how we spend it has changed forever for the better. And, perhaps, we can find a way to give back to those who gave so freely to us without judging us on any level. You should know …At no time did me or my wife feel judged or criticized by you or anyone else we had contact with at We Care. I can’t thank you enough for treating us with respect and dignity, even though our financial situation did not reflect those traits.

Rob, thank you again for the blessings you bestowed on my family today. I am forever grateful and I hope that, someday soon, I can somehow pay it forward to someone else in need. I will keep you updated on our progress throughout the month. In the meantime, feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

God Bless and have a great day, sir.
